The 20th Golden Melody Awards is going to be held on 27th June 2009, 6pm, at Taipei Arena. The hosts for the event would be Patty Hou and Tao Ching Ying. Both of them imitated the thousand hands goddess for the commercial ad designated for the countdown of The 20th Golden Melody Awards. They expressed that they would like to imitate Crowd Lu and Pig Brother on stage.
Is Jay Chou who was nominated for eight awards going to attend the ceremony? Patty Hou admitted that she had kept in contact with Jay Chou and his answer was a simple, “Maybe.”
It has been 20 years since the first award ceremony was held. As such, Lo Da Yu and Albert Lin were cordially invited for composing a new song in memory of the past 20 years. All the nominated singers, past year winners and hosts would participate in this song.
In 1985, Lo Da Yu composed a song, “Tomorrow Would Be Better” to promote anti-piracy. Now, the song for this special occasion would have the same spirit. The song is 80 percent completed and Lo Da Yu mentioned that this song signifies unity, persistence, hard work and seriousness.
Golden Melody Awards producer, Hou Wen Yan stated that, Kay Huang and newcomer nominee, Joanna Wang would not be attending the ceremony. As for Jay Chou and Wang Leehom, it was stated that they are trying their best to make it.
This was the 11th time, Tao Ching Ying hosts the Golden Melody Awards. She prepared herself by going on a diet in order to slim down. She joked about how her menses would arrive before the nominees turn up.
Hou Wen Yan hoped that this ceremony would be different. There would be a timed mic. The presenter has only 3 minutes to give the speech while the winner has only one minute. If any one of them exceeds the time limit, the mic would be shut off automatically.
Vincent Fang was asked to recite his 20 years of work during the ceremony.
The live telecast of this ceremony would be broadcasted by Aziotv.
